Tokyo (December 10, 2004)--Bridgestone Corporation announced today that it has contracted with Boeing Company to supply tires for Boeing's new 7E7 Dreamliner family of airliners. Boeing will offer Bridgestone radial tires as standard equipment on all three models of the Dreamliner family. The aerospace giant is moving to put the Dreamliner into commercial service 2008, and Bridgestone will begin delivering Dreamliner tires to Boeing in 2007. Bridgestone is currently the only supplier of tires for installation on the Dreamliner family as standard equipment.

The tires that Bridgestone has developed for the 7E7 Dreamliner family employ a new belt structure that features high-elasticity, high-strength cord. This new belt structure earned high regard from Boeing especially for its contribution to weight savings and to wear resistance.

"Every 7E7 will be delivered with Bridgestone tires," said Mike Bair, Boeing vice president and general manager of the 7E7 program. "Bridgestone has proven itself a wonderful partner through its work with us on many other programs, and we are pleased to have them join us on the newest Boeing airplane."

Launched in April 2004, the 7E7 is a family of three airplanes. The 7E7-8 Dreamliner will carry 217 passengers in three-classes of seating and will have a range of up to 8,500 nautical miles (15,700 kilometers). The 7E7-3, a model of the 7E7-8 optimized for shorter flights, will carry 289 passengers in two-class seating on ranges up to 3,500 nautical miles (6,500 kilometers). The 7E7-9, a longer version of the 7E7-8, will carry 257 passengers in three classes and will have a range of 8,300 nautical miles (15,400 kilometers).

"Boeing's selection of our radial tires for the Dreamliner family is a tremendous honor," emphasized Bridgestone's senior vice president for overseas operations, Shoshi Arakawa. "Only a handful of tire manufacturers possess the technological capabilities to create tires for commercial airliners. Boeing and we have built a relationship of mutual trust over years of working together. And we at Bridgestone are delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to yet another model family of Boeing airliners."

Bridgestone will supply 40x16.0R16 28PR radial tires for the front wheels on all three Dreamliner models. It will supply 50x20.0R22 34PR radials for the main wheels on the core model, the 7E7-8. It will supply 50x20.0R22 26PR radials for the short-haul 7E7-3 and 52x21.0R22 36PR radials for the stretch-version Dreamliner, the 7E7-9. Bridgestone tires are also delivered on the Boeing 737, 747-400, 767 and 777.
