Bridgestone to obtain JIS Q 9100

Bridgestone has obtained JIS Q 9100 covering Head Office, Technology Center and Kurume Plant.

Tokyo (October 28, 2005)-Bridgestone Corporation obtained JIS (Japan Industry Standard) Q 9100 for its new aircraft tires as of October 27, 2005. This covers its Head Office for sales and purchasing, Technology Center for design, development and management of manufacture and Kurume Plant for manufacturing new aircraft tires.

JIS Q 9100 is the Japanese standard of requirements for quality management system in aerospace industry and equivalent to AS9100 in the United States and EN9100 in Europe. These standards were established to add some requirements necessary for aerospace industry to ISO 9001 which is the quality system covering all industries.

This means that Bridgestone's quality management system for new aircraft tires meets these standards. Bridgestone's retreading plants in the United States, Belgium and Hong Kong will also promote to obtain one of these standards to assure the quality management system for all Bridgestone brand aircraft tires.
