EVERTIRE INITIATIVE

Toward a sustainable future where recycled tires are the standard

From used tires begin unlimited possibilities.

We aspire to take used tires and recycle them to produce new tires, helping to create a world where tires can be recycled time and again.

Today, Bridgestone is co-developing recycling technology to create this new system, the first of its kind, by 2050. This is our promise.

This system will move society toward a sustainable future where recycled tires are the standard.

Together we have the power to bring this future to life.

This is our EVERTIRE INITIATIVE

Tires are the ultimate enabler of mobility, but every year an estimated one billion tires around the world reach the end of their useful service life. As a global leader in tires and sustainable mobility solutions, Bridgestone is serving society by finding new and more environmentally responsible ways to maximize the complete lifecycle of a tire.

Bridgestone envisions a future where every tire we produce is made from 100 percent renewable materials. Today, we are developing technologies that will make this dream a reality by enabling us to recycle tire materials and renew them for use in new tires.

Our journey requires collaboration and co-creation. We are seeking valued partners to help drive breakthroughs in tire material circularity and make the movement of people and goods more sustainable. Together, we can create a better world for future generations.

The EVERTIRE INITIATIVE supports the Bridgestone E8 Commitment and aligns with "Ecology: Committed to advancing sustainable tire technologies and solutions that preserve the environment for future generations" and "Energy: Committed to the realization of a carbon neutral mobility society".

Joint Project with ENEOS, focused on Producing Tire Raw Materials from Used Tires

BRIDGESTONE × ENEOS

Tire demand is expected to grow in the future in conjunction with rising automobile and transportation demand. Synthetic rubber is one of the primary materials used when producing tires and is generally produced from petroleum today. Used tires are also utilized as fuel mainly through thermal recovery in Japan and this utilization method emits CO2 consequently.
Bridgestone Corporation and ENEOS Corporation announced the launch of a joint research and development project aimed at achieving the social implementation of "chemical recycling technologies that enable precise pyrolysis of used tires" This initiative contributes to accomplishing the shared sustainability vision of both companies.

Recycle process

Specifically, the companies will engage in demonstrations for social implementation of chemical recycling technologies for achieving high-yield production of chemical products, such as butadiene, a raw material used in synthetic rubber. These technologies will entail breaking down used tires through precise pyrolysis to produce petrochemical feedstocks (naphtha, etc.) which in turn will be utilized to manufacture petrochemical products.
